Hello all, I am proud to present the artwork and words of Gerry DeWitt as part of the Elevate: Raising the Arts Initiative. When I read Gerry’s words I am reminded that we are one with nature. When I look at her paintings, the textures of the brush strokes, the paint and the paper combine to articulate that sentiment on an emotional level. Gerry is also a Certified Zentangle Teacher. Being an artist is a continual process, in future articles I intend to revisit artists to feature their developments, including Gerry, but if you would like to learn about Gerry's Zentangle artwork sooner than that, I encourage you to check out her website and follow her on social media, links below. Here is Gerry in her own words. My thanks to Gerry for sharing her art with us and to you for being here, Anthony Lachus
Water has many moods, just as humans do. Like humans, mood is influenced by events, by the environment, and by the pull of the Universe. Here are a few such moods, as told by water:
See if you can find anger, peacefulness, opacity, and roiling moods here. Anger is softened by a surrounding glow, peacefulness is interrupted by the pull to the horizon, opacity gives way to clarity beneath, and roiling churns within itself in a self-fulfilling cycle.
These moods can be found in other forms in nature, like the sky, the trees, and even in the wind. Recognizing moods in nature might be a way to cope with moods as human beings - a way to cope when all seems unbearable - just look around to see that you are not alone.
